Named after the already legendary engineer's birthplace, the Newton Channel is an homage to Rupert Neve. This top-end channel strip features a built-in preamp, EQ and compressor, and completes a set-up that essentially spans decades of studio recording gold. Featuring a trim function so it can be pushed without overdriving the converter, the microphone preamp sounds tight and vibrant, while the equaliser not only supports quick-and-effective tweaks but comes with an individual bypass control - a welcome feature for hardware-based studios. The integrated compressor, meanwhile, ensures a more consistent sound and more detail. This advanced VCA compressor is easy to steer and keeps musical tabs on the timing, retaining punch without any 'pumping'.
