The Keytar is a musical instrument that's a keyboard played in the same position as a guitar. That's where it gets its name from: keyboard guitar. The first keytar was made by Moog and appeared on the music scene in the 1980s. While they're inextricably linked with bands from the '80s, keytars are still around today. They're great for keyboardists who want an instrument they can sling around their neck in order to be able to move around while playing and take their place centre stage during performances. Some keytars rely on pre-installed sounds only, while others have comprehensive editing functions giving them more in common with synthesizers. There are also keytars that are essentially MIDI keyboards meaning they only work with a computer or sound module. You should then go with a wireless keytar, so that you can still enjoy complete freedom on stage.
