Zoom's H5 and H6 are versatile handheld recorders that stand out thanks to their modular architecture: they come with various interchangeable microphone capsules. Two are included upon delivery: an X/Y and a mid-side microphone capsule. This Zoom SGH-6 shotgun microphone is an optional accessory for the Zoom H6. Remove the current microphone capsule of your Zoom H6 and attach this shotgun mic and you're ready to make hyper-directional recordings.
The advantage of a shotgun microphone
If you work in a film, video or live environment (theatre, reporting), a shotgun microphone is an indispensable tool. Thanks to the sensitive supercardioid pickup pattern you can make excellent recordings from a fair distance. For TV reporters this means that they can interview people without shoving their microphone into view. The highly directional pickup pattern of the SGH-6 is remarkably more efficient than that of conventional shotgun mics that use an acoustic tube method.

Zo blij ik met de Zoom recorder ben, zo valt mij de shotgun mic. tegen.
Ik ben een DSLR filmer en ik hoopte dat de Zoom H6 met shotgun zou werken als een ENG mic. nou helaas het contact geluid die je krijgt met het bedienen van de camera is enorm en is de mic. voor mij echt onbruikbaar.
Ik verbaas me er over dat Zoom dit de ideale oplossing vindt voor ENG geluid.
