The entire Meinl Byzance series consists of cymbals that have been hammered into shape and carefully finished in the Meinl workshop in Turkey. The B18DAC is a dark crash cymbal that clearly shows off its raw finish. Raw may sound a bit brash, but the visible hammer marks and the untreated surface were consciously chosen by Meinl to give this cymbal a distinct (European) sound.

This 18-inch cymbal has a dark, low sound with an esoteric character, partly thanks to its untreated finish. The durable B20 bronze alloy gives the cymbal a sublime sound and ensures that it will retain that sound for many years to come. It has a powerful attack with plenty of presence and a short sustain. The large bell allows you to even use this crash as a light ride cymbal, if you so desire. This crash won't cut through the mix like a power saw, but instead it offers a warm sound with lots of character and plenty of presence in its own right.
