The Yamaha Clavinova CLP-700 Series: Digital Never Felt So Grand
Devoted fans of Yamaha Clavinova pianos are about to get spoilt rotten by the welcome introduction of the fresh CLP-700 Series! Over 100 years of experience has gone into the development of these acoustic-electronic hybrid instruments to treat our eyes and ears with a more-than convincing playing experience. Whether you've just started learning the basics or have been honing professional-grade playing skills for years already, you'll be able to find a model to fit your level.
The Yamaha CLP-700 - Digital Never Felt So Grand
With the release of the CLP-700 Series, Yamaha themselves state that 'Digital Never Felt So Grand.' And, they're not saying it lightly. Yamaha have been busy bringing the sound and feel of an acoustic piano to digital instruments for decades already, and in this latest generation, their efforts come in the form of features like Real Grand Expression 2, Grand Expression Modelling, and an upgraded version of the Virtual Resonance Modelling technique that's able to reproduce the most subtle nuances and details. Here, you have the ultra-realistic-feeling presence of the actual sound of the keys being played, the hammers responding, the creak of the pedals, the resonance of the strings and the cabinet itself - all the mechanics of a real acoustic piano. The renowned Bösendorfer Imperial and, of course, the Yamaha CFX pianos have undergone the freshest recording methods to provide the CLP-700 Series models with better sound than ever, and for a richer experience when playing with headphones, binaural sampling has been used. A pair of fortepianos have been added to the repertoire to offer a more accurate sound when playing 18th and 19th century pieces, and since the menu has been concealed in a subtle touchscreen to the left of the keyboard, the distraction of any buttons or blinking lights has been removed completely. Also, so that the very best can be pulled out of this latest series of instruments, Yamaha kindly provide the incredibly extensive Smart Pianist accompaniment app.
The Models
Yamaha really have developed a model for every playing level. The CLP-775 comes fitted with a counterweight-free GrandTouch keyboard and a lush sounding 3-way system built-in. Second in the line-up is the CLP-745 with a GrandTouch-S keyboard and a 2-way system. Then there's the CLP-735, loaded with the same keyboard as the 745, but with a slightly lighter sound system. Each model comes in various colours and finishes, including Black, Polished Ebony, Polished White, Dark Walnut, Dark Rosewood, White Ash and White. In closing, Yamaha also offer the CLP-765GP - a stunning digital piano that's been made available in Polished Ebony or Polished White.
