This shell set by Pearl is made of maple and boasts an overwhelmingly warm, open sound that allows low frequencies to really come through. The Masters Maple Reserve MRV943XEP is a 3-piece set and consists of a 24x14-inch bass drum, a 13x9-inch tom and a 16x14-inch floor tom. It's an ideal set for all-round rock/fusion drummers and does not include cymbals, hardware or a snare drum.

Pearl used North-American maple to make the shells in this set, a wood type that is also used in well-known Masterworks drum kits. All Masters Maple Reserve shells are made up of four plies of wood for a total of just 5 mm. These relatively thin shells are then reinforced with rings around the edge which are made of another four layers of maple. The shells are made according to a special process that consists of 38 different steps, which tells you something about the craftsmanship of this set! The lugs, tensions rods, and Low Mass FatTone rims are all chrome-plated.

Configuration

The bass drum in this set is 24 inches in diameter and 14 inches deep. It includes a 3-piece muffler so you can determine the exact amount of dampening you want, and comes complete with Remo PowerStroke 3 drumheads. Then, we have the 13x9-inch tom. It delivers a pretty, warm, open sound and offers optimal resonance because of the Aluminium OptiMount system so the shell doesn't come in contact with the chrome. The tom is not attached to the bass drum, which is beneficial for the sound of both the tom and bass drum! Finally, there's a 16x14-inch floor tom. All the shells have a wide tonal and volume range, and the tom and floor tom are equipped with Remo Clear Ambassador drumheads. Whether you use this set in the studio, on stage, in the rehearsal room or in your bedroom, it's got a sound that can't be beat!
