The electro-acoustic guitars from the Ibanez AEW series all have a thinner, amplification-friendly body. Even at its thickest point the body measures only 10cm making it easy to handle and perfect for the stage. An elegant cutaway further adds to the comfort and playability of this guitar. While the hardware, electronics and body shape are similar on a lot of guitars, they don't all have a sound box made of exotic woods. The AEW40CD-NT has a body made of Cordia. This doesn't just make for a rustic look with a vintage vibe; it also produces a great sound.

Construction

As mentioned before, the thin body and elegant cutaway make this Ibanez very comfortable to play. Sound is amplified through the Fishman Sonicore pickup and the Ibanez AEQ-SP2 preamp. Even 'unplugged', the AEW sounds good thanks to its large sound box. Cordia produces a sound fairly similar to rosewood, but with a little more sophistication. It gives the AEW a warm sound overall with powerful mid and treble tones. The mahogany neck has a 21-fret rosewood fretboard that adds more warm highs to the mix. When it comes to hardware, Ibanez won't let you down either.

The amplified sound

The Ibanez AEW40CD-NT is equipped with a Fishman Sonicore pickup and an Ibanez AEQ-SP1 preamp for amplified sound. Both the pickup and the preamp let the natural sound of the AEW40CD-NT shine through. A 3-way equalizer allows you to further fine tune your sound should the situation require it. In the event that you experience any electrical interference during your performance, the phase inverter can help you eliminate these problems. Finally, an XLR output should underline that the AEW really shines when it is on stage. In short, it's a modern guitar with a very rustic look.
