If you are working a lot with microphones and want the freedom to select a precise sound for a certain application, the microphone preamp might just be the thing for you. It allows you to quickly and easily compose your own microphone. For the AKG C480-B preamp, a special series of capsules has been composed, with all different kinds of pickup patterns (the AKG CK series). The preamp itself is of a superior quality and the incredibly wide frequency range of 10 to 30,000 Hz means that it does not really matter which head you use: you will always be provided with a great sound.

The preamp needs phantom power and is powered by a regular XLR cable. You can adjust various things on the preamp with the dB pad and the low-cut switch. This way you can boost the signal with 6 dB or attenuate it with 10 decibel. The low-cut filter ensures that you can filter low tones from the signal, so that you will be left with as clear a sound as possible.
