The Avalon U5 Class-A mono instrument DI preamp is the most potent of its kind. This slick little box not only balances the incoming signal but provides up to 30dBs of extra gain, and essentially lays out the red carpet for the signal of any guitar, bass, or synthesizer. While studio-ready, the compact build of the U5 can be easily taken on the road.
Tone Shaping
Way more than just a DI box, the Avalon U5 comes fitted with a Tone Shape control knob, setting the sound up with six carefully selected passive EQ curves that each do absolute wonders for the sound of a bass or guitar. As long as a speaker or load box has been connected, this unit can even take an output directly from the guitar amplifier, and the high-cut will filter out the sharper edges that are normally sent to the speaker - perfect for a super-direct and superb guitar or bass sound.
