Operating light shows isn't an unpleasant job at all, the annoying bit is often the immense amount of cabling you need to control a proper-size lighting setup. That annoyance is no more with this American DJ controller! The WiFly WLC16 is equipped with a wireless DMX system so you no longer need to lay miles of XLR cabling, as you can now control all your fixtures wirelessly. This controller sends out 512 DMX channels divided over sixteen fixtures. A quick stabbing at our calculator tells us this is 32 channels per fixture! Unobstructed, the WiFly protocol has a range of 150 metres!

WiFly WLC16: an overview

Zooming in for closer inspection, we can tell that this controller harbours quite a number of functions. It has no fewer than sixteen channel faders, along with a speed and time fader that greatly increase control. The WLC 16 allows you to program 30 x 16 scenes and even moving chases, of which six can be stored in the controller with a maximum of 480 steps per chase. The overall unit can be locked with a password to prevent unwanted fiddling.

SD card memory

A function we don't often see on controllers of this size is the option to store settings, scenes, chases and even full shows to an SD card. A 2GB card is included, but the WLC is able to cope with cards up to 4 GB. Lastly, this controller is also equipped with a built-in microphone that allows for music-controlled operation. In this mode, the controller will move the lights to the beat of the music.
