Meinl's CCA1NT cajita is an unusual percussion instrument that originates from Peru. At first glance, it seems like just a wooden box with a lid and a large Easy Grip handle. But don't let its looks deceive you, as this is a full-blown percussive instrument!

You play it by hanging it around your neck with the nylon cord, and holding the handle on the lid in one hand, and the wooden beater in the other. Then you proceed to strike the instrument with the beater, and by opening and closing the lid with your other hand, you can create a wide variety of unique sounds. All in all, the cajita is a remarkable instrument that would not be out of place in your percussion group.
