What Can You Do with Magix Samplitude?
If you're thinking about stepping into the world of music production, then you might be wondering how you even get started. Most of the time, everything begins with a computer, and since there's a big chance that you already have a computer, it only takes a small investment in some external gear, like an audio interface, and some computer software and you're all set up. The kind of software you'll need is called a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) which is basically multi-track recording software that mimics old-school studios, where you would work with big analogue tape-machines (which later became hard discs) connected to a big mixing desk.
These days, you can do all of that with a computer. In fact, it's highly likely that you can do even more with a computer and a DAW than you could with the eye-wateringly expensive gear that filled your average recording studio way back when. Magix Samplitude is exactly this kind of software.
So, Samplitude is a typical multi-track recording program. This means that you can record audio and place audio snippets and samples on multiple tracks (or rows, which is what they look like in the program) and mix them into complete songs. So, you can do things like record a guitar on track one, then create a new track and record the vocals. Want to add a cello? Just create another track and lay it down. Once everything's been recorded, you can even add effects to each individual track, you can balance and mix the tracks, edit out any unwanted noises (like the sound of a breath on the vocal track) and plenty more.
This is exactly how studio engineers work in big studios, and while Samplitude offers the same way of working, it costs you far less money and sets you up with an easy-to-understand interface.
Once Size Up: The Pro-X Edition
While the standard edition of Samplitude is ideal for entry-level producers and artists that are itching to learn the ropes, the Pro-X edition offers the next step up. It's the same package but can do a lot more, so the range of functions is perfect if you already have some experience under your belt and want something you can really sink your teeth into. The Pro-X edition is more expensive, but it does come including some extra software, like iZotope Ozone Elements and iZotope RX. And, if you want to go even further, you could go for the Suite edition, which comes with even more extras, including Sound Forge and SpectraLayers Pro.
