Fender's FSR series guitars set themselves attractively apart from the masses. This FSR American Standard Stratocaster offers all the good bits of the American Standard Strat, with a soft V-profile neck. Additionally, it features a compound fretboard radius (9.5 to 14-inch), a gold anodised aluminium pickguard (that beautifully combines with the Aged White knobs and covers) and a beautiful, warm Mystic 3-colour Sunburst finish.

The V-shape neck makes it possible to play the low E and A string with your thumb, just like Jimi Hendrix. The blues-oriented guitarists is well-served with this profile, which feels notably different from the average C or U-shaped neck. The fretboard on this FSR Strat is made of rosewood and contains 22 medium jumbo size frets. The body is made of alder. The bridge is a 2-point, synchronised tremolo with a copper-infused steel tremolo block that has a bigger mass than a standard block, for improved tone and sustain.

Pickups and No-Load tone control

If you're a fan of the full, twangy Strat sound, you're looking in the right direction; this Fender is equipped with three Custom Shop Fat '50s single-coils. They provide and excellent bass response without overly sharp mid tones. The middle single coil is reverse wound so that the dreaded hum in the pickup switch's positions 2 and 4 is non-existent. The tone controls consist of one for the neck pickup and another one for the middle and bridge pickup combined. This last tone potentiometer is a no-load type, when you turn it all the way to level 10, the pickups sound as if they are directly connected to the output - eliminating the tone controls.
