Fender asked famous skateboarder Tony Alva to design a signature model electro-acoustic guitar and the result is this White Lotus Sonoran SCE. Its a unique Tight Dreadnought western guitar that features a two-tone finish with White Pearl on the top and Shoreline Gold for the sides and back. This is the 2014 Limited Edition version, which comes with an original Alva Skateboard deck. It's limited to 150 pieces, which makes it a real collector's item.
Features of the Tony Alva White Lotus Sonoran SCE
The body of this steel-string acoustic guitar consists of laminated mahogany with a solid spruce top. Maple is used for the neck, which is equipped with a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard, which is the ideal combination of wood types for a full, loud and clear sound. The neck was given a comfortable, vintage-style C profile as well as elegant white bindings and a Stratocaster-type headstock in the same colour as the top. Another striking detail is that this guitar has two 3-layer black pickguards on either side of the sound hole.
Details and electronics
The Tony Alva White Lotus Sonoran SCE was fitted with Fender's classic Viking-style bridge with compensated saddle for optimal intonation. The saddle and string nut were made of GraphTech NuBone for a better tone and more tuning stability. Additionally, you'll find an Alva Lotus inlay next to the 12th fret. This dreadnought can be used both unplugged and amplified, thanks to the built-in Fishman electronics. The Isys III system features an active preamp, a 3-band EQ, volume control and an on-board tuning device.
