The Fender Rustler Open Back Banjo is a 5-string banjo with open back for a friendly, not too fierce sound and comfortable weight. The satin gloss maple body has a tone ring that gives the banjo enough clarity and projection. The rosewood fretboard has beautiful snowflake-like position markers. Fender have built a beautiful, traditional instrument for serious amateurs and advanced players.

The five-string Fender Rustler Open Back

As is common on a bluegrass-banjo like the Fender Rustler Banjo, this instrument has a fifth string that starts on the fifth fret; a drone string that is usually played open and provides a continuous resounding tone in the chords. To match it to the key, you tune it up or down or use a special 5th-string capo.
