The Ibanez SR700 is a 4-string electric bass guitar that belongs to the famous SR series. Its bolt-on SR4 neck is made of five parts Jatoba and Bubinga wood and the combination of these wood types makes sure that the relatively thin neck is strong and stable. The guitar produces a full, dynamic and detailed sound that you can adjust completely to your own preferences by means of the built-in electronics.
SR700 CN: sound and construction
The Ibanez SR 700 CN has a body made of mahogany, providing the bass with a beautiful, full sound with rich mids and a deep low. The maple top gives the sound a nice, bright edge and more attack. The neck is conveniently narrow and thin which allows you to rush along the neck like crazy. The rosewood fretboard has 24 frets and is decorated with great-looking oval abalone inlays. Thanks to the excellent design of the Accu-Cast B3 bridge, you can adjust the saddles to the right height with just one screw.
Adjusting the sound
The Ibanez SR700 is equipped with two Bartolini MK1 pickups. These pickups have a split-coil design that takes care of the suppression of hum and noise, and provides a very wide frequency range and excellent definition. This way, you can produce very subtle tones. The neck and bridge pickups have an equal response that you can seamlessly mix by means of the balance knob. The sound can be further adjusted via the Bartolini EQB-IIIS active 3-band equalizer with switch for an alternative mid-frequency range. With this switch you can boost or filter the low, middle and high frequencies.
