The Sonor SSD13 Gavin Harrison Signature Protean snare drum is part of Sonor's SQ2 series of custom instruments, which represents Sonor's vast wealth of drumming knowledge. It's the pinnacle of Sonor artisanship, the result of over 137 years of experience in producing high-quality instruments. With an unlimited variety of sizes, shells and finishes, the SQ2 series is Sonor's most unique line of drums to date, allowing every drummer to create their own sound and identity.

SSD13 Gavin Harrison Signature snare drum: Protean

The name Protean stems from ancient Greek mythology and was chosen to reflect this instrument's incredible versatility. Gavin Harrison is best known as the drummer for Porcupine Tree, and he helped Sonor develop a snare drum that can quickly adapt to any musical situation. Hence, the Sonor Gavin Harrison Signature Protean snare drum combines classic elements with modern innovation. The Gavin Harrison Signature snare features a 6-ply shell with a special triple flanged steel Power Hoop with cutaways on the bottom. With the Sonor Dual Glide snare strainer, changing your snare wires is easier than ever! Furthermore, the Protean snare drum also comes with three damping rings (light, medium and heavy). Two specially designed Protean drum keys help make both tuning your drum and replacing the drumheads a much quicker and easier process.

Two sizes

The SSD13 (SQ2) Gavin Harrison Signature snare is available in two different sizes: 14 x 5.25" and 12 x 5". This snare drum is hand-crafted in Germany, and comes with a Remo USA CS batter head and a Remo Ambassador Resonance head.
