Instead of getting bigger, amp manufacturers seem to be focusing on making their amp heads smaller. There are handy lunchbox-size heads everywhere these days. Peavey's 6505 Piranha Micro Head boasts 20 watts of combined power, as this hybrid guitar amp head features a 12AX7 tube in the preamp and a transistor output, resulting in a lot of power and delicious tube gain. This compact lunchbox may not look too impressive, but just wait till you plug it in.
