Devine Introduce New Wireless Microphone Systems and More!
Devine are proud to present two new series of wireless microphone systems! Both highly competitively-priced, the WMD-50 Series is focussed on the ultra-high frequency band (UHF), while the WMD-24 Series hits up the 2.4GHz spectrum. The Devine WMD-24 Series
The new WMD-24 Series includes two solid and brilliantly affordable wireless microphone systems. This fresh series will be replacing - and improving on - the Devine WMD-168 MKII units, which have been around for quite a while now.
The Pro Duo
Let's kick things off with the WMD-24 Pro Duo. The system includes a sleek receiver unit that, due to its limited depth, can be easily mounted in a 19" (effects) rack or flight case, and features two antennas and a large, backlit display where all kinds of information is clearly laid out. One of 16 channels can be selected per microphone, which also means you're free to use multiple Pro Duo systems at the same time. The included handheld microphones also come fitted with a little information display, as well as a synchronisation function so that the channel selected on the receiver unit is directly applied to all of the handhelds you're using. In terms of information, you're kept fully up to date on the active channel, microphone frequency, signal transmission strength, volume levels, and more.
The Basic Duo
Next to the more professional version, Devine release the WMD-24 Basic Duo: a straight-up, no-nonsense bit of kit designed for more basic use by less experienced users. The compact, desktop-style receiver either be set up on a desk or mounted to a wall, and is ideal for community centres, local clubs and organisations or schools that demand a neatly-installed system. Using the fitted dip-switches, selecting the right microphone channel and syncing up the microphones is child's play.
While both WMD-24 systems come including handheld microphones, each can be expanded with the WMD-24 Bodypack Set. This set includes a compact bodypack receiver equipped with an antenna and a volume control, plus a headset and lavalier microphone that are coupled up with the bodypack receiver via a locking plug.
The Devine WMD-50
The Devine WMD-50 Series has been designed with superb value for money in mind. The WMD-50 Solo and WMD-50 Duo systems come including one and two handheld microphones respectively and, just like the WMD-24 Series systems, can be expanded using one of three available WMD-50 Bodypack Sets. When picking out an expansion pack, always make sure that you pick up the right version!
Since the WMD-50 Series includes affordable, entry-level systems that operate on the 863-865MHz ISM frequency band, the frequency or default microphone channel cannot be adjusted. Regardless, the display of both the receiver and the transmitter provide information on the current frequency, audio level, signal transmission strength, and the antenna that's being used.
The handhelds included with the WMD-50 Series systems are comfortable to use and the receiver has been equipped with balanced XLR outputs - a feature you won't easily find on systems as affordable the WMD-50s. As such, these wireless mic systems are ideal for smaller events where the audio-technical demands aren't as high.
The Devine WMD-IE Wireless In-Ear System
Last but not least, Devine introduce their very first, very affordable wireless in-ear system: the WMD-IE. This system operates on the duplex frequency band (823-832MHz) which, while it's not the most extensive or the most widely used band, can be used license-free across various countries.
Since the WMD-IE makes use of the duplex gap of the 800MHz frequency band, it's not recommended to use the system to cover longer distances. Instead, this wireless in-ear system is aimed at and purely designed for short-distance use. Think entertainers, presenters and leader singers of local bands that perform next to their mixer and wireless receiver. The WMD-IE allows for extra freedom of movement without breaking the bank, and offers various inputs. You could, for instance, hook it up to the AUX channel of a mixing console and mix it with a talkback microphone to hand out instructions whenever there's no music being played via the system. In addition, a pair of wired headphones can be plugged into the desktop transmitter, or you can connect up an active monitor for further signal distribution. For the synchronisation of the transmitter and the bodypack, the WMD-IE system uses infra-red.
The bodypack receiver of the WMD-IE offers a number of practical functions and features. Next to an output for the included in-ears, there's a standard audio output that can be used whenever a certain distance has to be bridged to reach, say, something like a battery-powered speaker.
All in all, the WMD-IE system is the perfect solution for those who want to explore the world of wireless in-ear monitors without having to pay top-dollar.
