Descrizione
Known for their excellent value for money and versatile sound, the Marcus Miller bass guitars from Sire have quickly become a house-hold name. Now, the second generation of 5-string V3 basses is here. Compared to its predecessor, this particular model comes with several interesting upgrades, including a mahogany body mounted with Marcus Standard J-Revolution pickups for a convincing sound. In addition, the fretboard edges have been carefully rounded to raise the playing comfort, and a sweet extra comes in the form of an ash battery cover. It's this level of attention to detail that immediately sets the new series of affordable Sire Marcus Miller basses apart from the competition.
The Marcus Miller V3-5: Jack of all Trades
Sire have chosen to equip the V3-5 2nd Gen with a Marcus Miller Heritage-3 preamp, which includes a special 3-band EQ designed to pull every possible bit versatile tone out of this bass. Dependable stability is guaranteed by a truss rod and a maple neck reinforced with two carbon-fibre rods, while an all-steel bridge solidifies the overall sound and keeps the tuning in check. What's more, this Marcus Standard Bass Bridge can be used as a top-loader or as a string-through-body, depending on what best matches your style.

Wat een top instrument! Hiervoor gekozen op basis van de reviews en tests die op internet te vinden zijn over Sire bassen en in het bijzonder over deze V3-5 (2e generatie). En ik moet zeggen: alles is waar, je krijgt heel veel basgitaar voor het geld. Hoe kunnen ze her ervoor maken. Prima afwerking, speelt heerlijk (mede door de hals met aan de zijkanten van het fretboard afgeronde kanten!), hij is niet al te zwaar en.. het geluid is geweldig. De elektronica met de mede door basgigant Marcus Miller ontworpen en afgestemde voorversterker doet veel goed. Het is even wennen aan de vele bedieningsknoppen, waaronder laag, mid, en hoog toonregeling, schakelaar passief/actief, selectieknop brug- of hals pickup en bass boost/cut, maar het klinkt als een klok. Doet mij denken aan een Fender Jazz bass sound, maar dan eentje met veel variatie in klank mogelijkheden. Ik heb deze aangeschaft als 'reserve' bas, en ik heb best aardig referentiemateriaal zoals Fender Precision en MM Stingray, maar dit doet qua klank eigenlijk niet onder voor veel bassen uit het hogere segment. Echte een topper, ik ben erg blij met deze aankoop!
