It may seem unusual that a German company would produce traditional Peruvian instruments, but they do, and they do it well! Besides an immense range of cajons, Schlagwerk serve up this meaty-sounding BC462 2inOne Bass Cajon to provide the bottom-end of a percussion ensemble whether unplugged or miked up. An antique birch playing surface finishes the 7-ply Gabon wood box while 84 internal spiral snares provide the clear and light 'sizzle' of a hi-hat and snare.

A Peruvian Box

Cajons originated in Peru, where the instrument still remains incredibly popular. Having been stripped of their instruments, African slaves that had been brought to Peru against their will started picking up empty wooden cargo boxes and drumming - basically inventing what we now know as the cajon. This simple percussive instrument has since become more refined and complex so they even sometimes provide a complete 'kit' in one box that can be expanded with additional accessories like pedals and cymbals.
