When Van Halen released '5150' in 1986, Eddie was playing a very specific Super Strat. Now, you can get your hands on the EVH-made version: the Limited Edition 5150 Deluxe Ash. With a build aimed at speed and comfort, this model harks back to the past yet meets the demands of any contemporary guitarist. As well as a bolt-on, quarter-sawn neck, you're looking at an ash body that features a deeper curve than the guitar it's modelled after, while the neck has been reinforced with graphite so it's better at handling fluctuations in temperature and humidity. Also, the fretboard has a compound radius that shifts from 12 to 16 inches for the playability needed to complete solos higher up the neck.

Alnico 2 Wolfgang® Pickups

While the EVH Striped Series guitars feature a single Wolfgang® Alnico 2 pickup, the 5150 Series model has two. Thanks to their perfected EQ curve, the Alnico 2 magnets take care of ample sustain, punch and articulation, where the neck pickup shapes stunning cleans when the volume is reined in. In addition, EVH have equipped this singular axe with a kill switch so you can mimic stutter effects as heard on tunes like 'You Really Got Me', while the Floyd Rose® bridge makes pulling off dive-bombs as easy as can be without throwing the tuning out of whack. The patented D-Tuna® allows you to effortlessly switch to a drop-tuning and this 5150 Series offering wouldn't be complete without the hockey stick headstock.
