Originally designed as a student-model, the Mustang has since gained cult-superhero status. This awkward upstart of an offset guitar doesn't just have a unique look but, due to the shorter-than-average 24-inch scale length, has great playing comfort via the snug C-profile and 9.5-inch fretboard radius. Another notorious plus is the slim, compact and lightweight (back-saving) body.
Fender Mustang
While Mustangs are traditionally mounted with a somewhat sensitive bridge, this sensitive reissue is fitted with a more stable hardtail Strat bridge for improved tuning stability and intonation. The full Fender sound is framed by an alder body and maple neck with 22 frets and the whole is amplified by two Mustang single-coils, changed up with the 3-way switch (a convenient upgrade from the switch-per-pickup design of the original Mustang) and then customised with the no-fuss tone and volume pots.
