The Hagstrom Ultra Max is a modern electric guitar that meets all the needs of any modern guitarist, as exemplified by the 25.5 inch scale length for increased string tension and a little more bite than you would expect of a single-cut model. Hagstrom have gone for a fast and comfortable feeling mahogany neck with a slim D-profile, along with a flat, 15-inch radius fretboard made of Resinator. This composite wood is known for its high density and sound characteristics reminiscent of top-shelf ebony.

The core of the Ultra Max is shaped by a mahogany body with an arched, flame maple top, the whole of which has been finished with satin-gloss lacquer for a sleek look and comfortable feel. Two Custom 60 Alnico 5 humbuckers guarantee a collection of mighty warm and powerful sounds, which can be split and broadened with a range of sparkling single-coil voices using the push/pull tone control. Speaking of tone, small yet significant details such as the Graph Tech Black TUSQ XL string nut and the innovative sustain block tailpiece deliberately lift the overall sound to great heights.

Ik had deze gitaar gekocht omdat ik nu al een tijd gitaar speelde op een goedkopere Epiphone en toe was aan een upgrade.
Ik wist niet veel over dit merk, alleen dat ze de gitaren maken voor de band Ghost. Zelf speel ik erg veel heavy metal en death metal (denk aan Metallica en Opeth), en ik wou eigenlijk iets met een langere scale length dan mijn Epiphone voor drop D naast normale standaard E tuning (24,75 inch had ik, 25,5 heb ik nu). Ik wou ook iets met een coil-tap of coil-split functie zodat ik van harde distortion naar clean tot lichte overdrive geluiden kon zonder dat ik steeds aan mijn amp hoef te zitten.
Deze gitaar doet het allemaal, hij klinkt geweldig en hij ziet er ook nog eens super goed uit. De bouwkwaliteit is heel erg goed (hij heeft ook wat gewicht, wat ik zelf wel fijn vind), zeker voor deze prijs. Qua afwerking is het enige wat ik erop aan te merken heb wat kleine flekjes op de binding van de headstock, maar daar moet je echt naar zoeken. De binding is bij sommige frets ook wat ruw gedaan, maar voor deze prijs zie ik dat helemaal door de vingers. Tuning stabiliteit is ook prima.

Marque très peu connu et pourtant... si toutes les guitare était construite de la même façon se serai un régale. Finition impeccable, qualité des matériaux très bonne jusqu'au petit détail comme les boutons etc Pour le prix on a un instrument de qualité bien supérieur à une Fender, une Gibson ou une épiphone à prix équivalent. Coté son la non plus , pas de déception, elle sonne parfaitement les micros son de bonne qualité, que se soit en clean ou overdrive, peu importe le style, elle s'adapte !! en plus elle est belle dans ça finition Cosmic Black Burst Satin. Si vous cherchez une guitare dans cette gamme de prix, n'hésitez pas !!
