Ibanez ATZ100-SBT Sunburst Flat Electric Guitar with Case
Descrizione
While the master guitarist has already slapped his name on a stack of Ibanez signature models, Andy Timmons was so taken with AZ Series, he just had to have one: meet the Ibanez ATZ100. Even without Timmons' stamp of approval, the AZ Series models are renowned for their ultra-refined playability and super-high-end features, so it only makes sense that the Ibanez ATZ100-SBT has been given a one-piece roasted maple neck with a roasted maple fretboard. Having undergone the S-Tech Wood treatment, the maple has been hydrogen-heated to remove moisture, rendering the wood less sensitive to warping and pushing the stability through the proverbial roof. The back of the neck has then been sealed with oil to result in a superb, buttery smooth feel. This only supports the slightly thinner carve (when compared to the AZ Prestige necks) which finishes with a 40.5mm-wide nut, while the Oval-C profile is a touch wide and perfectly matches that of Andy's own Ibanez AT model.
Tasty Single-Coil Sound & Flawless Tuning
A DiMarzio The Cruiser single-coil has been planted at the neck, bridge, and middle position to lay down a beautifully defined mid-range and deliciously saturated bass and shape that tasty, 'chewy' output that characterises Andy's signature sound. This configuration has been coupled with a smooth taper volume filter to keep the higher frequencies perfectly intact when the volume pot is pulled back, giving this instrument a more uniform sound across the whole spectrum - from 1 to 10. The mounted VSVG tremolo bridge is the result of a collaboration between Wilkinson and Gotoh and bears a unique design that lends the enhanced tuning stability of extended baseplate screws and the vintage-flavoured sound of steel saddles. Further tuning support is provided by a set of Gotoh Magnum Lock machine heads, each finished with the patented H.A.P. (Height Adjustable Post) system. And, as you would only expect of a high-calibre tone-machine, it comes including a hardshell case.

Tone: great pickups! It's amazing to have those 3 single coil shaped HUMBUCKERS on a strat hybrid. They are fat sounding yet clear and punchy. I very much love the tone circuits... Even at zero it stays 100% playable. Very jazzy. Yet you can play metal with it too. Absolute versatility.
Playability: outstanding. If you know Fender necks, this is between an oval C and a modern C shape. The overall satin finish is great 👍 On the neck AND the body. The string spacing seems a tiny bit larger but it's no big deal.
Conclusion: all positions and combinations of tone pots sound absolutely magic. The guitar is very inspiring. In some ways it beats the Fender CS. The quality control is THROUGH THE ROOF! OUTSTANDING. And what you get for your money is also OUTSTANDING. I don't think you can beat it. You could theoretically play your whole life with this instrument. Very high quality. It's lightweight, the fret edges are smooth as can be, the neck wood is actually stunningly beautiful. Seems like a one piece neck! (Ok, the locking tuners they chose aren't my favorite tbh, but that's my only tiny complaint)
Thanks BAX Music for the very reliable service. Very nice first purchase for me!
