Super Viking: electronics & construction

At first glance, the Super Viking may look like a traditional hollow body with maple body and neck. A closer look, however, reveals that this model has an unusually long neck. The 25.5-inch scale length often found on the ST models makes it easier to switch guitars, and the longer neck is better suited to drop-tunings. The two Hagstrom Humbuckers each have a separate tone control and can be split into single coil. This special feature gives you control over no fewer than five extra pickup configurations, making the Super Viking an extremely flexible instrument. To top it all off, it features Hagstrom's specially designed Resonator fretboard, made of high-quality ebonol plastic that boasts the same sound qualities as ebony.

Hagstrom: a Swedish legend

Hagstrom has been around since 1925. It began as a manufacturer of accordions and other traditional instruments, but began producing acoustic steel-string and classical guitars as far back as the 1940s. In 1958, the brandreleased its first electric guitar. Rather than churn out models similar to what everyone else was making, Hagstrom concentrated on producing their own unique designs and quickly gained fans like Frank Zappa and Elvis Presley, who appreciated their quality and sound. When production stopped in 1982, the price of an original Hagstrom model quickly became unaffordable. Fortunately, production started again in 2005, so the dream of owning your very own Hagstrom is once again within reach!
