The Avid S1 serves up unrivalled speed, visual feedback and software integration from a slim package for a deep, hands-on production experience. The S1 controls your preferred audio or audio-visual software while it's also possible to add the free Pro Tools | Control app to an iPad for the ultimate in ergonomic efficiency. A super-fast and full overview of the total mix is offered for both streamlined and improved results reached via contact-sensitive motorised faders and the flexible workflow offered by eight touch screens. While complex tasks are carried out with ease, the S1 is driven by EUCON; Avid's very own ethernet control protocol that offers the deepest hardware/software integration possible. As such, you're getting lighting fast access to many Avid and third party functions and control elements while even switching between multiple applications and workstations is kept butter-smooth.

Ik bestelde deze Avid S1 online bij Bax en werd keurig de dag nadien geleverd. De Avid S1 vervangt mijn Command 8 voor Pro Tools Ultimate. De activatie van de S1 (door bijgeleverde code) op de Avid website verliep vlekkeloos, en daarna kan je de Eucon software downloaden.
Bekijk eerst even welke Pro Tools versie je hebt en welk operating system compatibel is met elkaar, anders werkt het niet. In mijn geval heb ik het Mac OS moeten upgraden naar 11.4. Samen met Pro Tools versie 2021.6 werkt alles perfect!
Heb zitten twijfelen tussen een MCU controller of deze EUCON gebasseerde controller, maar uiteindelijk dus toch gegaan voor de Avid S1. Ik gebruik hem met Cubase. Samen met de Avid Control app (die ik gebruik op mijn ipad) geeft de Avid enorm veel mogelijkheden om de DAW te besturen. Nog geen minuut spijt gehad. Gezien de vele mogelijkheden kost het wel tijd om deze allemaal in je workflow te krijgen, maar het meeste werkt erg intuitief. Zag op internet forums dat Cubase gebruikers problemen hadden met de S1 of dat bepaalde functionaliteiten niet werkten, maar dat heb ik nog niet ondervonden. Nog geen crash gehad. Het enige probleem is dat ik 1x tijdens een mix sessie geen mixer configuraties met de muis meer kon selecteren. Echter, rechtermuis klip op de desktop eucontrol app en kiezen voor restart EUCON applicaties loste dit probleem direct op. Dus wat mij betreft een aanrader tov MCU controllers die een minder diepe integratie hebben.
Geweldige DAW controller.. Zeker in combinatie met de Avid Dock. Ik gebruik deze combinatie met Steinberg Cubase en Nuendo en werkt super. Helaas is alleen de Avid App nog niet perfect en crashed de DAW hierdoor regelmatig. Hopelijk wordt dit binnenkort met een update gefixt. Ik heb hiervoor altijd gewerkt met de Avid artist Mix, Control en Transport maar merk wel dat dit weer een stap vooruit is. Absoluut een aanrader!!

I'd previously been using the Artist Mix with Pro Tools and hadn't seen the need to upgrade to the S1 but the integration with a tablet was a nice touch and add some extra functionality so I decided to finally get an S1. Bax Music delivered it within 2 days, it was the best online price and it was well packaged. The S1 is well made and is a solid upgrade to the Artist Mix and I'm glad I did it. I use it along side the Avid app on an iPad and the two together make for a fast and functional way to get around your session. The only issue I've had was getting the EUCON app to see the S1 but I seem to have it fixed now. Bax provided free of charge an IEC cable but I didn't need it as it came in the S1 box, but thanks anyway! Great service, this was my first time using Bax and I'll definitely be ordering from Bax again.
