Kitted out with a circuit that's directly inspired by the Marshall Bluesbreaker®, the neat Electro-Harmonix Spruce Goose Overdrive can be deployed to take your output up a few notches. While this pedal takes its cues from a legend, it boasts a broader range and some new options on the side, including a Lift switch that can be flipped to apply a +9dB or +21dB of extra gain - ideal for supporting low output pickups or adding some thrust during leads. In fact, any which way this stompbox is dialled in, you're getting dynamic playability alongside transparent and defined sound.

The EHX Spruce Goose: A Practical Sidekick

Next to the standard-issue Volume and Gain controls, the Spruce Goose provides an active Bass control pot for accurately weakening or strengthening the lower frequencies, giving guitars with a single-coil loadout a little more tonal fullness or tightening up the output of a set of humbuckers. Another handy design detail is the true-bypass switching which can be set up in either standard latching mode or momentary mode so that, when the switch is held down, you gain a temporary mix-punching boost.
