While you can happily feed the Wren and Cuff Two Five with a standard 9V power supply, the voltage is internally boosted to a hefty 25 Volts, so you can pump out way more output, way more dynamics and way more headroom. While this high-quality, American-made stompbox might sound a bit familiar, what you're actually getting is a solid drive pedal with a flexible, global character coated in a familiar, tasty sauce. This is all thanks to the JRC3404 op-amp that lies inside, which is a distant cousin of the highly acclaimed JRC4558 found in the guts of one classic green overdrive pedal.

The Wren and Cuff Two Five: From Saturated British Tone to Cleaner American Warmth

Via the voice mini-switch, you can toggle between two different voicings. In the first position, two Mosfets take care of the clipping and spit out a saturated guitar sound that comes as close as it gets to that classic British amp style sound. In the second position, a pair of LEDs take over the distortion, giving you a more open and cleaner American-style output. Of course, you can tweak the Volume and Gain pots to set the effect level and distortion level, but it's when you start playing with the three-band EQ section that the truly flexible nature of this pedal comes out. Hit the true hard-wire bypass switch to deactivate the Two Five, and your pure and clean, uncoloured sound is fully restored.
