Non succede spesso che un novellino diventi il nuovo standard di riferimento per la concorrenza, ma NEO Instruments ci è riuscita con il Ventilator. Questo compatto simulatore di rotary speaker era in grado di produrre il suono di un Leslie in modo tanto realistico, da diventare in breve tempo un pedale ricercatissimo. La concorrenza non si è certo fermata e ha introdotto pedali simili sempre migliori sul mercato. NEO risponde alla sfida con il Ventilator II. Il suono è altrettanto spettacolare, ma l'alloggiamento è molto più compatto e, grazie alle doppie funzioni dei knob, il numero di sound a disposizione è aumentato di molto. Fatevi convincere e provate voi stessi questo "Leslie in scatola". Come sempre, adatto sia a tastiera che a chitarra.
Il NEO Ventilator II da vicino
Chi pretende di avvicinarsi al suono di un rotary speaker Leslie 122, deve avere qualcosa di straordinario. NEO Instruments aveva già buone basi con il Ventilator I, ma con il Ventilator II raggiunge nuovi orizzonti. Infatti, oltre ai ben noti footswitch Stop, Slow/Fast e Bypass, troverete anche knob con doppie funzioni. Nella pratica significa che non avrete solo le possibilità che vi può offrire uno speaker Leslie originale, ma molto di più! Per una spiegazione più estesa riguardo ai controlli, date un'occhiata alle Specifiche. L'insieme è racchiuso in un elegante e robusto alloggiamento in metallo, ovviamente con funzione True Bypass.
Controlli estensivi
Ogni autentico fan dei Leslie sa bene che il Leslie 122 utilizzava due tamburi rotanti di cui era possibile regolare la velocità separatamente. I controlli del Ventilator II sono basati esattamente su questo concetto. Al posto di due esemplari fisici, gestirete due tamburi virtuali, non solo per quanto riguarda la velocità, ma anche la marcia e il bilanciamento dei tamburi. L'overdrive integrato ha un suono grasso e caldo simile a quello di un Leslie 122 a pieno ritmo. Proprio come con lo speaker fisico, potrete anche determinare la distanza dei microfoni dal tamburo più alto e più basso (Dist Hi/Dist Lo). Sul lato posteriore del pedale troverete un pulsante per scegliere tra input alto e basso e rendere così il pedale adatto a diversi strumenti.

Zeer tevreden. Ik gebruik de Neo Ventilator op mijn Nord Stage 3 en dit is een perfecte combo.
Veruit één van de beste rotery simolators.
Na enige tijd de Rotary simulator op de Nord Electro 2 73 te hebben gebruikt adviseerde de studie-opnametechnicus om eens de nieuwe Neo Ventilator II te proberen. Hij voorspelde dat het een enorme voortuitgang zou betekenen qua geluid, warmte en effect. Dit gedaan en toen dacht ik, nooit meer zonder. De rotary effecten zijn zo groots dat al bij eerste gebruik tijdens repeteren het duidelijk was dat dit een mega stap vooruit was en is! Ook nu in combinatie met de Crumar Mojo Classic een zeer waardevolle toepassing en alternatief voor de (redelijke goede) in de Crumar aanwezige Rotary. Vooral de geweldige instellingsmogelijkheden van de Neo Vent II zijn super en volledig naar eigen smaak in te richten. Dankzij de bediening ook tijdens repeteren en live optreden makkelijk aanpasbaar. Een stukje techniek die je als organist moet proberen, tenzij je over een analoge en dikke Rotary speaker beschikt, dan lijkt dat niet nodig. Reviews melden trouwens dat de Neo the next best Rotary is. Zegt genoeg. De bijbehorende remote control is handig maar eigenlijk (bij mij) niet nodig, staat rechts op de Crumar en makkelijk bedienbaar. Enige minpuntje, je moet de handleiding er bij hebben om de Neo te leren kennen, je zou zomaar iets moois meer, kunnen missen.
Fantastisch geluid met een warme buizenbrom. Laat de meest waardeloze hammondimitaties nog mooi klinken, wow.
De Ventilator2 heeft een krachtig Leslie-effect en is naar smaak volledig instelbaar. Het effect is veel beter dan de sim in mijn Nord Electro 5. Groot voordeel is ook dat het Hammond-geluid aanzienlijk warmer klinkt. De distortion is perfect voor John Lord/Lachy Doley-achtige nummers. Belangrijk verschil met de Ventilator 1 is dat de Bypass nu in stereo is i.p.v. mono, superhandig! ik gebruik tevens de Neo-Ventilator remote-control (zeer degelijk!). Kortom aanbevolen!!
Ideaal voor iedereen die een Nord Electro gebruikt voor zn hammond sound maar geen zin heeft om een grote leslie speaker mee te sjouwen. Met dit pedaal kun je een realistischere hammond drive geven dan met de Nord zelf, en ook de leslie klinkt nog net ff wat realistischer. Bovendien kun je bijvoorbeeld de microfoon afstand en dergelijke aanpassen om precies de sound te hebben die jij wilt.
Aanrader!
Instellen van submenu's zijn niet gelijk heel duidelijk, daar moet je de handleiding wel ff bijhouden. (enige minpuntje)
Een grote verbetering voor mijn Nord C2D! De Nord klinkt veel beter met de Ventilator II. Een droom van een Leslie-simulator. Wat velen niet weten is dat je de snelheid ook kan regelen met een expressiepedaal, zo heb je ook controle over de versnelling/vertraging. Topbak!

Firstly, the unit sounds fantastic. However there are a couple of "features" with it:
1: the remote switch will not allow you to bypass the effect, only toggle the stop and fast / slow functions.
2: Whilst it has stereo in / out when the effect is enabled the inputs are summed to the right hand channel and anything on the left (e.g. ping pong delay) is lost.
So unless you need the tweak-ability it offers, for guitar at least the mini vent might be the better choice.
