The Boss IR-200 stacks an IR impulse loader and an amplifier in one compact stompbox that can be customised from the ground up to slot into every and any sonic situation, whether it's integrated into a live rig or a studio setup. Boss have generously started you off with the sound of eight legendary amplifiers and three classic bass amplifiers to play with. Push the gain and keep things tight and defined by adding the internal noise suppressor to the chain.

The Boss IR-200: 154 IR Presets and Up-To 128 Third-Party IRs

Link through modulation, delay and reverb pedals via the effects loop, and jack your overdrive and distortion stompboxes directly into the input. When it comes to the cabinet section, two of the 154 IR presets can be selected to polish off your virtual stack. 144 of those IRs come from the Boss vaults and an extra ten ultra-tasty Celestion Digital have also been thrown into the heady mix. And, if you have a few third-party IRs, then you can load them into one of the 128 preset slots, as mono or stereo WAV files with a length of up to 500 milliseconds, a bit rate of 16 to 32, and a resolution of 44.1 to 96kHz.

Extra Atmosphere via the Ambience Pot & Extra Control

If things are sounding a little bit dry for your taste, then select one of three ambience types before dialling in the level, and a parametric or graphic EQ section can be slotted in before and after the Ambience to knead the sound into shape. Rehearse in private using the fitted headphone output, which is supported by an enveloping surround effect, and use the two outputs to hook the IR-200 up to your external gear of choice. Piling on the options, Boss have also added an AUX input, a MIDI jack input and output, a CTL 1, 2/EXP port so users can gain deeper control, and a micro USB-B port for direct connection to a PC or Mac to link to the handy IR-200 driver software.
