Next to being a fancy word for balance, Equilibrium is the fitting name for this 14-inch Matt Garstka signature hi-hat, which has more than earned its spot in the successful Meinl Byzance Vintage Series. Since certain parts of both cymbals have been finished differently, the balance between the attack, tone, response and volume this hi-hat offers is practically flawless. For the perfect amount of brightness, some parts are lathed while others have been deliberately skipped to increase attack. The edges have been sand-blasting for a dose of dryness and, to give the hi-hat the right 'chick' when you stomp it closed, the lower cymbal features six little holes surrounding the cup. This way, air is able to escape more easily and more volume gets added to the 'chick', making for a hi-hat with a huge dynamic range suitable for various styles.
