The inspired product specialists at Sabian actually design far more cymbals than they can produce each year. Pretty nice problem to have, huh? In order to make sure that they were actually manufacturing the best of the best cymbals, and more importantly the cymbals that their customers wanted, Sabian decided to have drummers from the US and Europe play the prototypes and then choose the best ones.

Global voting

In order to widen the pool of voters, Sabian had some of the best drummers, such as Mike Portnoy and Tony Royster Jr play the prototypes so they could be posted online and people all over the world could vote on the best sound.

Air Splash

The Sabian Air Splash definitely racked up a lot of votes at the last election, but not quite enough to win. That's why Sabian wanted to give the prototype another chance, and it's a good thing because it came out the triumphant winner the second time around. Now you can reap the rewards of Sabian's work, and enjoy playing this deep, cutting splash. The ¾-inch perforations combined with the AAX hammered and lacquered bell give the splash its biting sound while still allowing it to retain body and depth.
