The Focusrite Clarett+ OctoPre is an 8-in/8-out ADAT preamp/audio interface that harnesses the sound of the renowned Focusrite Studio Console. Whether you're recording jazz or metal, you can capture audio sources with maximum sonic detail via eight clean-and-discrete preamps. Also, what made the original Focusrite Console so popular was the 'Air' feature: an option that almost literally breathed air into recordings. Needless to say, the popular Air-function has been carried over to the Clarett+ OctoPre, allowing you to hear the transients in drums and bring vocals to life by pushing the impedance to 2.2kOhms and adding two high shelves for a 4dB high-frequency boost. The result? The accurately mimicked sound of the one-and-only ISA 110 preamp.
Record Using Your Own Analogue Outboard Gear
Since the Clarett+ OctoPre sets you up with eight inserts, you're free to hook up your own analogue outboard gear to enrich the signal path with EQs, compressors or any other effects you want to drop in. The flexible, simple-yet-effective design even does away with the need for a patch-bay because the inserts can be toggled at will. Also, the digital-to-analogue conversion is nothing short of fantastic, assuring you of high audio quality at all times, while JFET instrument inputs are provided so you can capture every last detail in the sound of something like a guitar.

The Focusrite Clarett+ OctoPre is an absolutely stunning piece of equipment. Not only does it look good in Focusrite's deep red signature colour, but it performs beautifully alongside my Focusrite Clarett+ 8 Pre. The two are connected using a high end Audioquest Vodka Toslink cable and both units are powered by PS Audio PerfectWave AC3 mains cables. The 8Pre is connected to my custom PC via an Audioquest Carbon USB C lead. There is zero background noise of which there was always some, particularly digital and mains interference I had with cheaper cables and units. The sound clarity is superb for my main uses of DJing, streaming and editing video. I got lucky with a phenomenally great price too. Thank you Bax Music. You know I will be back!
