American Standard Precision Bass: Custom Shop quality

The most notable feature of the American Standard Precision Bass is the new '60s P-Bass pickup from Fender's Custom Shop; it looks the same, but the sound it produces has been subject to massive improvements. This single-coil pickup now features extra windings that increase output and provide you with more punchy mids and basses. It provides the authentic fat and warm bass sound that made a legend out of the Precision Bass. The neck has been taken under the wings of the Custom Shop too and is now finished in a richer, deeper-tinted lacquer for a vintage look and a silk back for more comfort while playing. The fretboard has been polished to a fantastic high-gloss shine, just like that on P-Basses from the fifties.

A true classic in a modern guise

It might look the same, but the version of the American Standard Precision Bass has been most certainly improved compared to the original from 1951. Fender's High Mass bridge features the classic looks but has extra mass for a fuller tone and longer sustain. Its lightweight Hipshot tuners provide this guitar with better balance and improved tuning stability. Playability has also been improved by fitting the P-Bass with medium jumbo frets and a modern, flatter 9.5-inch fretboard radius. Two graphite Posiflex support rods have been fitted to the neck for extra strength and stability. The P-Bass is now better than it ever was before.
