Boss DD-500 Digital Delay
Descrizione
BOSS's digital delays are virtually synonymous with contemporary music. Every new version of the DD pedal has raised the bar higher still. The new flagship of BOSS's digital delays is the DD-500. With 32-bit, 96 kHz digital processing, no fewer than twelve different delay types, a looper function, USB and full MIDI functionality, it is the complete package. It the perfect for use in the studio or on the stage.
BOSS DD-500: endless possibilities
The high-quality digital technology (32 bit, 96 kHz) offers a range of possibilities that the DD-500 makes full use of. Analogue, shimmer and slow attack are among the twelve different delay types you can choose from. Anyone who loves the characteristic sound of an 8 or 12-bit delay won't be disappointed either, thanks to the 'vintage digital' setting. The DD-500 is easy to program and settings can be saved to one of the many memory banks.
BOSS DD-500: stereo, midi and usb
In terms of controls, the DD-500 also makes full use of the possibilities offered by digital technology. Several different functions can be assigned to the Tap/CTL switch, for instance. The DD-500 can be operated via an optional foot pedal or MIDI. The USB port makes it easy to use the DD-500 in combination with your DAW. Of course, you can also use the USB port to easily save settings on your computer. Stereo possibilities make the pedal even more versatile. In short, you should have enough options and possibilities to keep you busy for a while!

Many would argue (incorrectly) that Boss have created a budget/cheap version of the infamous Strymon Timeline. I'll explain concisely why they're wrong.
The Boss DD500 can be as complicated or as simple as you want.
It features an incredible range if stunning delays in 96khz reproduction.
The unit is superbly strong and reliable requiring only 200ma of (not necessarily isolated) current draw.
You can customise the switch functions. For instance I have mins globally set to provide 3 presets per bank. Each delay has the option of delay crossover (which I highly recommend) basically if you want to add a splash of Terra Echo madness in a solo but quickly switch back to a generic digital delay sound it us seamless.
The looper is class! Really easy and fun to use.
Maximum of 297 presets!!! That's ridiculous.
You can actually limit the amount if banks... why? Well if you only need 50 different delay sounds why have all the other banks?
You can control EVERYTHING!!
So the big taboo - dud they rip off Strymon....?
Well yes and no.
For decades Boss / Roland have lead the way in effects pedals. They invented digital delay (DM2) They invented midi and they invented the design of a stombox that we all recognise today (small box with a switch and LED indicator).
They have been ripped off left right and centre by every company under the sun pretty much both aesthetically and sonically.
...so basically they've thought... Strymon have a nice layout...lets do our flagship delay like theirs.
Only difference is Boss have made it better... the switches are on a slight angle making access better.
The screen is much bigger and clearer.
The colour us even nicer.
All in all this pedal is professional live and studio quality. It is not a cheap version of the Strymon it us a genuine alternative and actually an alternative if highly recommend .
