The tuning range is accommodatingly wide, so it can be dialed down to get a deep, warm and fat response, or the pitch can be raised for crisp, transparent definition and a biting attack.

The relatively thin 1.3mm shell of the Black Dawg has a 14" diameter and 5" depth and helps shape this snare's awesome response. In terms of sound characteristics, brass actually sits somewhere between wood and metal, which is why the sound of this snare is able to strike such a sweet balance between warm and crisp. The fitted 2.3mm Super Steel tension hoops ensure that any rim shots and clicks have slicing presence, and to finish, ten subtle lugs give the Black Dawg BK-5014SH its distinctly vintage look.
