The Allen & Heath GLD-AR84 Black expansion rack for the GLD digital mixers series is a mixer input/output with lockable XLR connections. With the help of a CAT5 cable, you can place this rack up to 120 metres away from the mixer. This allows you to plug mic and line signals into a digital snake on stage.

AR84 with dSNAKE support and built-in preamps

The Allen & Heath GLD series is equipped with a digitised dSNAKE system that replaces thick, slow multicables with thin, universal CAT5 cables. This adjustment requires some technical support, naturally, which is why the input preamps are all built into the GLD-AR84 and can be controlled from a distance. This system allows you to optimise the signal before digitalisation and then fine-tune it to perfection with the GLD-80 digital PA mixer. Thanks to the functionality of the CAT5 cables, the GLD-AR84 can be placed at a distance of 120 metres from the PA mixer.

Expansion rack applications

The AR84 is the second expansion rack in the GLD series and can be used as the first, second or third extra expansion. It can be connected by connecting it to a special output on the GLD-AR2412 in order to expand on the break-out box on stage. If this is too many channels for your situation,you can use the GLD-80 mixer as a second dSNAKE connection for a smaller expansion rack system on the other side of the stage or nearer to your mixer, for instance.
