Guitarists who have played for a while will agree that the pick they use plays a large part in the overall sound of their performance. Timber Tones makes picks for the real connoisseur by using not only different types of wood, but also a variety of other materials. These Fusion Tones are machine-cut from high-grade aluminium and then manually sanded down to the right thickness. Finally, these metal picks receive their characteristic metallic colour by way of a chemical process called anodisation. This set consists of four Fusion Tone picks in white, red, silver, and black. Their shape is taken from the classic (Fender) '351' picks and they are 2.5 mm thick while the edge and tip are sanded down to 0.7 mm.

The importance of picks

When looking for culprits for a criminally good sound, the pick is often omitted from the list of usual suspects. Don't be fooled though, as this small tool is a veritable mastermind when it comes to tonal influence. A pick's gauge, shape and material are all important ingredients that make up the overall sound. Since aluminium is a relatively soft metal, however, they allow the sound to maintain its warm character.
