The Dreadbox NYX V2 is a little monster of an analogue synth that has all of its functions neatly and comfortably laid out across the control panel. The routing section can be found on the right-hand side and features no less than 30 patch ports, making the NYX 2 a potent semi-modular synthesizer. The patches can be used to completely alter the entire architecture of the synth, which clearly offers more than its control panel suggests. It's also a paraphonic synthesizer that uses two oscillators for a single note and two single oscillators when you play two notes simultaneously. To top it off, a built-in reverb has been added to make the overall sound sound bigger and fatter.
Can You Get Your Kicks With The Nyx?
This is definitely not a synth for just anyone; if you're looking for a piano sound or for something to accommodate the chords for your synth-pads, this is not the machine for you. The Nyx is mainly an extremely experimental synthesizer on which you shouldn't be afraid to try out entirely new things that have barely taken shape yet. If experimenting is what you love, then the Nyx V2 is a great synthesizer with way more potential than you might suspect.

Dit is de tweede keer dat ik deze NYXv2 heb en het is en blijft een heerlijk ding om drone & horror sounds mee te maken in mijn wereld van ambient sci-fi soundscape toepassing. Wat ik raar vind is dat bij osc1 niet maar bij osc2 wel de LED aangaat. Voor de rest werkt alles prima. Echter had van mij het bereik van de vcos groter mogen zijn dan wel de oct switch actief, als de drone switch aan staat met de dip345. De reverb had best wat dieper gemogen, eventueel meer freeze er in. En vergeleken met de NYXv1 die ik ook had zijn de oscillatoren ietsjes minder powerful. Leuk al die patchpointen.
