The keytar has been around for decades and this model takes the best of the past and combines it with feedback from today's highly-demanding professional musicians to create the ultimate performance synthesizer. The AX-Edge has a modern design with 49 keys and the sounds, specially developed for keytarists, give you full creative freedom to make your performances truly memorable.
AX-Edge
The presets in the Roland AX-Edge ensure your sounds will be heard in even the loudest of bands. Among more than 500 sounds, you'll find everything you need for edgy leads, thick basslines and more. There's also space for you store sounds of your own. Via Bluetooth MIDI, you can even make adjustments wirelessly. There's a master compressor and EQ on board too so that you can enjoy studio-quality sounds when you're playing on stage.
In control
One of the biggest advantages of playing a keytar instead of a standard keyboard or synth is the freedom it gives you to move around on stage. Roland has, therefore, taken care to ensure that the controls on the AX-Edge are easily accessible. Most of the controls are assignable too so that you can choose where you want to have the ones you use most. There's also a modulation bar, a touch-sensitive ribbon controller and other easily accessible controls including an octave switch and program change.

Nondejus, een groot ding zeg.
Op de fotos waar mensen hem vasthouden lijkt hij behoorlijk behapbaar maar in de realiteit is het een immens instrument dat torenhoog boven mijn gitaren uitkomt in mn gitaarrek.
De app die erbij hoort waarmee je met bluetooth kan verbinden voelt als een soort afgeraffeld eindstageproject van een MBO ICT student. Er zitten bugs in en tijdens het inladen van de instellingen van de AX Edge kun je gerust een kop koffie zetten en deze geheel opdrinken en de hond gaan uitlaten want dat duurt gewoon een kwartier. Dit trouwens iedere keer wanneer je de app sluit en weer opent.
De bak aan geluiden is een stuk minder georganiseerd ingedeeld dan bij de keytar voorgangers van Roland. Alles wat te maken heeft met orgel, piano, strings en noem het maar op valt allemaal onder het kopje Keys of Other. Nu is dit wel op te lossen met favorite banks instellen, maar toch.
Wat wel positief is dat deze keytar de d-beam niet meer heeft, want eerlijk, wie gebruikt dat nou echt.
Verder is het een prima ding, met veel opties om je eigen geluiden te creëren zolang je er geduld voor hebt. De vocoder is ook wel gaaf. Klinkt als een klok en hij ziet er wel vet uit. En het is een keytar, kom op.
