Voor mij was deze UltraPack een upgrade van een zeer oude versie van Band in a Box.
Ondanks dat de filmpjes op YouTube een groot aantal verbeteringen beloofd, valt mij dat akelig tegen.
Na een week de 2023 versie gebruikt te hebben, heb ik de volgende bevindingen:
De architectuur is nog steeds gebaseerd op vrij oude technologie: de beschikbaarheid van een General Midi geluidskaart met soundbanks erin. Daarnaast of eigenlijk: erdoorheen geroerd zitten dan de real tracks die goed zijn ingespeeld en goed klinken, maar een ontzettend gedoe geven om te combineren met midi.
Een stokoude, niet-intuïtieve user interface met de raarste functionaliteit verstopt achter rare knoppen, maakt het aan de praat krijgen (alle partijen spelen) van alleen al de demo-melodietjes tot een hoop gedoe. Ik heb een ultra krachtige muziek workstation en Ableton-Live, Fruity Loops en alle Native Instruments bibliotheken en apps draaien moeiteloos op mijn computer, maar met Band in Box 2023 voel je je 20 jaar in de tijd teruggeworpen...
Ik raad deze applicatie vooralsnog af. Misschien denk ik hier over een tijdje anders over.
Dit is zeker geen applicatie voor beginners...
