Many drummers like to dampen their snare drum using everything from purpose-designed solutions like damper pads and damping rings to more improvised solutions like duct tape and tea towels. The downside to these solutions however is that they all add mass to your drumhead, which affects the sound. Aptly named 'The Shark', this damping system from Cympad eliminates unwanted overtones without affecting your snare drum sound.
The Cympad SRK-SD1 The Shark Gated Snare Dampener
Unlike gel pads and damping rings, 'The Shark' boasts a 'floating' design and allows your resonant head to resonate freely and fully. What's also great about this two-part system is that the degree of damping depends on the intensity and volume that you're playing with. This gated snare damper is easy to install, comes packed in a practical storage case and, while it's specifically made for snare drums, there's nothing stopping you from trying it out in combination with your tom or floor tom.

Doet wat het moet doen. Heel eenvoudig te installeren op mijn Remo powerstroke 3 coated vel. Het doosje bevat handige instructies zodat er eigenlijk niks fout kan gaan. Ik merk dat mijn snare minder overtone heeft en het geluid is in het algemeen meer gefocust. Het materiaal weegt heel weinig waardoor er weinig gewicht op het vel ligt wat ik een voordeel vind. In deze prijsklasse zijn er nauwelijks alternatieven die hetzelfde effect hebben.
