Boss Drop the DS-1W Waza Distortion!
Guitarists! Clear the schedule and stick your phone on silent, because Boss have just graced the world with the presence of the all-improved Waza Craft edition of one of the most iconic distortion pedals of all time. This is the dawn of the Boss DS-1W!
The Orange Legend
In 1978, while the rest of the UK braced itself for what would be the Winter of Discontent, guitarists were going nuts over the release of the Boss DS-1 Distortion pedal. Even now, the impact of this little orange terror can be felt in the farthest corners of the guitar universe, so it's no surprise that it's still the best-selling stompbox of all time: 1.5 million and counting. Spitting super-fresh, high-gain tone wrapped up in aggressive yet defined distortion and rich, harmonic overtones, the DS-1 helped carve out the sound of legends - including the likes of Prince, John Frusciante and Kurt Cobain.
The Boss DS-1W: The Benchmark Distortion with Extras
Skip forward to 2022, and Boss unleash the DS-1W: the same classic distortion but backed up by improved sound quality, a new design, and an elegantly discreet, fully analogue circuit that opens up a wider range and expanded versatility. With the Waza edition, you can easily flip between the old-school DS-1 sound (Standard Mode) and the all-new Custom Mode, which shapes a more balanced and thickened-up mid-range tone - and that's piled on top of the increased maximum output of 6 decibels, the elevated dynamics and the faster response.
Waza Craft: Japanese Artistry
The DS-1W is the latest addition to the Waza ranks, which includes the CE-2W Waza Chorus and the DM-2W Waza Delay. In Japanese, the word Waza means art and technology, meaning that the Waza Craft range is imbued with the very best artistry and tech that Boss Japan has to offer.
