In 1978, while the rest of the UK braced itself for what would be the Winter of Discontent, guitarists were going nuts over the release of the Boss DS-1 Distortion pedal. Even now, the impact of this little orange terror can be felt in the farthest corners of the guitar universe, so it's no surprise that it's still the best-selling stompbox of all time: 1.5 million and counting. Spitting super-fresh, high-gain tone wrapped up in aggressive yet defined distortion and rich, harmonic overtones, the DS-1 helped carve out the sound of legends - including the likes of Prince, John Frusciante and Kurt Cobain.

With the Waza edition, you can easily flip between the old-school DS-1 sound (Standard Mode) and the all-new Custom Mode, which shapes a more balanced and thickened-up mid-range tone - and that's piled on top of the increased maximum output of 6 decibels, the elevated dynamics and the faster response.
