Shred Your Socks Off! New EVH & Charvel Signature Models
Metalheads and flying-finger-work devotees are spoilt by a line-up of new signature models courtesy of chopping-board-builders EVH and Charvel.
A Music History Icon
Named after Eddie's groundbreaking soloing, the EVH Striped Series '78 Eruption mimics every inch of the iconic guitar first seen on the cover of Van Halen's 1978 debut album of the same name - but comes at an uber-friendly price. This bonafide axe blends many of Eddie's infamous mods with a fistful of more modern upgrades, and all of it comes wrapped up in a satisfyingly worn, relic finish.
Italian guitar sorcerer, Marco Sfogli from progressive metal outfits PFM and Icefish has also been treated to his very own signature model in the form of the Charvel Marco Sfogli Signature Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 1. This impacting instrument comes topped with quilted maple, dipped in Transparent Purple Burst and has been fully decked out with the broad sonic range provided by a set of HSS-configured EMG pickups.
Stomping Metal Monsters
Besides his Fender signature models, Jim Root of Slipknot has been honoured with a Charvel-built signature: the Charvel Jim Root Signature Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 1. Root has opted for the granite-grade assurance of a Floyd Rose 1500 Series Double-Locking Tremolo bridge and the thunderous output of a set of EMG Signature Daemonum pickups to polish off a stomping metal monster.
A new member of the Charvel-signature-club, Frank Bello of legendary Anthrax fame presents his own Pro-Mod So-Cal PJ IV Bass. Mounted with a set of Bello Signature EMG pickups and finished with uncompromising details like a mirrored pickguard and a maple fretboard with black position blocks, this four-string bass keeps things tight, clean and formidable.
