Yet another treat to come out of the close Jackson X Misha Mansoor collaboration, this is the MJ Series Signature Misha Mansoor So-Cal 2PT six-string: a model worthy of the djent-architect himself. Since it's touched by the hand of the Periphery guitarist, you can be assured that this high-performance instrument has been built from the ground up to serve the most discerning of progressive metal-heads. Everything starts with the lightweight poplar body, which has been bound to a caramelised maple neck via four stabilising bolts. The neck has also been graphite reinforced to complete a mega-solid build that's near-insensitive to the warping effects of extreme temperatures and humidity levels and, just in case any action or correction tweaks are needed, the neck can be adjusted via the spoke-wheel accessed at the heel.

The Ease & Speed of a 20-inch Radius

The back of the neck has been finished with oil to help speed up playability, but what really makes the So-Cal 2PT something truly special is the 20 inch fretboard radius. While Jackson usually sticks with a compound radius, things have undergone a radical change here, simply because Misha likes his fretboard to be as flat as humanly possible. This insane level of 'flatness' supports an effortless feel when grabbing notes since it lightens string tension and reduces resistance in one shot. The set of twenty-two jumbo frets don't do any harm either, while Luminlay glow-in-the-dark side dots guarantee accurate note-navigation - even in the pitch dark.

Misha has selected a Bare Knuckle Ragnarok humbucker for the bridge position and, in the middle and neck positions, he's gone for a Bare Knuckle Trilogy single-coil. This combo basically hands over ultimate control, where the Ragnarok spoons out tight and aggressive sound and the two Trilogy single-coils add an almost vintage twang. Besides ultra-defined metal rhythms, this loadout can voice pushed-clean tones thanks to the stunning natural compression and, to finish, this precise sonic tool comes mounted with a custom Gotoh 510 tremolo system, a Graph tech nut and a set of Gotoh locking tuners that combine to guarantee perfect tuning. The Daphne Blue paint job and white pickguard, meanwhile, serve as the cherry and the chocolate sprinkles on top.
