The Yamaha APX Series has been developed to deliver superb playability and excellent sound. The compact body and slimmed down neck of these models even offer electric guitarists a comfortable transition to an acoustic instrument. The tone is coloured by a clearly defined mid-range and bottom-end, balanced out by a bright high-end, and this natural acoustic sound is captured by a fitted piëzo pickup and a Yamaha-designed System63 SRT complete with microphone modelling.

The APX1000: Resonant Wood and Refined Detail

The sparkling and balanced acoustic sound is rounded off with light, cream-filled accents shaped by the wood used to construct this guitar. The solid spruce top of the resonance chamber is supported by a maple back and sides, and the set in neck is made from Nato, which has similar characteristics to mahogany, and has been finished with a rosewood fretboard to match the bridge. A gracefully deep cutaway allows comfortable access to each fret while triangular mother-of-pearl position markers provide a refined touch.

The System63 SRT Preamp with A.F.R and Tuner

The piëzo pickup and System63 SRT preamp system of the Yamaha APX1000 take care of the amplification and yes, you get a 3-band EQ and volume control to play with, but you also get access to three simulations of renowned microphones: the Neumann U67, Neumann KM56, and Royer R-122. Using the Focus and Wide pots provided, you can adjust the 'placement' of these virtual microphones to create a tight or large amplified sound and use the Blend pot to balance the sound of the physical pickup and the simulated microphone. To finish, the natural acoustic sound of the guitar can be limited or further enhanced by adjusting the Resonance pot, an Auto Feedback Reduction function quietly keeps any possible feedback at bay, and a built-in tuner accurately monitors the pitch.
