A compact mash up between the ultra-popular Freeze and Superego stompboxes, the Electro Harmonix Deep Freeze Pico pedal does just a touch more than your average sustainer. Just like the standard edition of the Freeze, this model can sustain full chords and notes for days but, via some extra controls and switches, this EHX offering brings a few more options, including a variable footswitch that, by hitting the Mode switch at the top, can be flipped between latch, moment and auto.

The EHX Pico Deep Freeze: Chilled Guitar Sound

The selected mode also dictates what the Speed/Layer control pot does. In latch mode, the pot determines how much of the sound you just 'froze' overlaps into the next sound you 'freeze'. In moment mode, it sets the fade in and fade out speeds, and in auto mode, it can be used to fade out the previous sustained sound after the following sound. The transition between sounds can be captured using the Gliss control pot, while the wet-to-dry balance is adjusted via the Dry pot, and the output volume is tweaked via the Effect pot. As a final treat, EHX have even thrown in a 9V power supply.
