Sugar Bytes Aparillo is a piece of extremely experimental synth-based software for Mac and PC, developed to shape dynamic sound via FM synthesis...kind of. While it's true that you can whip up FM sounds with Aparillo, you might want to consider looking elsewhere if you're searching for classic FM synthesis. Aparillo truly shines when it comes to coupling the synth with a solid engine, where you place objects on a 2D grid after which you drag a little sample-playback icon across to determine the intensity of the objects. There's also a kind of particle engine built in, which can be used to complicate sound in unison mode in a more extensive way than when using the stereo/detune spread of any other, more standard synth. The potential result is exceptionally lively and dynamic sound fit for sound-scapes and film.
