On the face of it, Sugar Bytes Unique appears much like any other subtractive synth. In terms of oscillators, you get exactly what you'd expect: a solid pair, with support for PWM and FM. The real magic fairy dust, however, lies in the filter sections where, along with the set of standard-issue filters, you'll find a voice-formant. In more concrete terms, this filter is able to warp any sound until it almost says 'yeah' - the result of Unique's ability to vowel-bend - an effect that could even be described as a sort of vocoder but without need for a microphone or even a human voice. If you yearn to shape that Daft Punk or Röyksopp-style sound, then Unique might be exactly what you need.
